Officials Training

Here are the resources for on-line Judge and Moderator Training that are available to Teams as well, as they prepare for the Regional on November 11th.

This on-line training will use a mock competition that sadly was from the video days. However, the content is consistent with face to face bowls. You will watch the video, stop after each section, then score the teams using the Practice Judge Score Sheet. Then you can start the video again and see how John Garcia would have scored the section, along with his comments. After you have gone through the entire video, which is about an hour, you should be comfortable with scoring our Southeast Regional Bowl. If you have any questions, please contact us.

First, here is the practice case. Read it through to understand the issues the students will be discussing. Practice Case

Then review the Guide to the Electronic Score Sheet we will be using. It will work on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Just remember to bring one of these to the competition! Guide to Electronic Scoring

Before actually viewing the video, take a moment to review the Judge Scoring Guidelines and the Ethics Bowl Etiquette. These are the criteria you will use in scoring, and you will see that the guidelines will align with the score sheet.

Now that you have the background, load up a Practice Judge Score Sheet on your Phone, tablet, or Computer: Practice Judge Score Sheet Since this is just a practice, you can just make up a Room and Round number. Pick any two teams for the competition. And you will only be scoring half a round, so do not panic if the score sheet demands more from you!

Now you are ready to view the video and keep score. Training Video

Moderators, during the video you can follow along on your Moderator Check List.
